Oh Sandy Where Is Your Sting?

Sandy came and went and yet she still remains. To all who were affected by Sandy I pray that you are safe and not downcast. Change comes in different forms but there is always something to gain from change.

My husband and I currently have no power, no water, very bad cell network and limited internet access but in all things we thank God!!! We are reminded of the simple things in life and it is a blessing. We have read a number of books by candlelight, eaten delicious raw food (recipes coming soon), finally put up our picture collage, long talks into the wee hours, meeting our neighbors, experiencing the love and concern of family and friends, I could go on but some things are not meant to be shared.

“Sing like no one's listening, love like you've never been hurt, dance like nobody's watching, and live like its heaven on earth.” - Mark Twain

I can really resonate with this quote by Mark Twain. It is beautiful and full of purpose. I have my own version which I am sharing for the first time... so be kind.

"Sing like your voice is a weapon, love like it is your sole purpose on earth, dance like you are dancing before the throne of God, and live like earth is not your home" - Ruvarashe

Road Trip & A Conference

I just got back from an ASI conference in Cincinnati. My husband and I decided to make it a road trip because we I love to explore. I jump at every opportunity to travel because I love to collect vintage gems from all around the world. The conference was outstanding. My life will forever be changed since this conference. I will share in more detail about the conference as certain things become more concrete but for now what I can say is GOD IS SOOO GOOD!!!!!

This post is pretty picture heavy and random so enjoy...

Breakfast at this colorful restaurant that has been in business since the 40s. The pancakes were mmmm good.

More eating!!!  Lunch is served...

Stopped by a vintage store... they had vintage gems circa 1920s.

Deciding on whether to get this hat...

Trying to figure out how this dress works...

Yeah the bottles you see are Ginger Ale... LOL

On the way home we decided to pass by my husband's alma mater, Carnegie Mellon University.

Red Floral Flatform

My husband and I went to a small lunch for couples this past week.  We had a lovely time... every couple shared the story of how they met and advised on what has been working for them in their marriage. It is always good to tell our testimony so others can be inspired and maybe learn a thing or two. I also find that sharing my testimony reminds me of where I have come from and helps me to assess my growth in this journey called life.

I decided to wear this vintage dress picked by my lovely sister cousin, Nomsa. The embroidered detail on the neckline and pockets is so dainty. I have been on the hunt for flatforms lately... I think I prefer them over wedges. Initially they were a bit awkward to walk in but now they are just great.

More items coming to Ruvarashe Vintage Boutique this week. :)))

Me and My Boyfriend

I am really not one for following trends... but yes these are or used to be my boyfriend's husband's jeans. Is it weird but I sometimes forget that he is my husband... like we are still dating. My husband and I dated long distance our entire relationship... we never lived in the same area. Now that we are married and together it still feels like we are in the dating phase. I wonder when i'll stop forgetting...

I added some new items to the store... be sure to check them out!!!

Khusi and Ru - One Year Anniversary

My husband and I celebrated our one year anniversary on April 23, 2012. After much deliberation we settled on heading to Miami to celebrate. We both love beach vacations so Miami it was. We had such a lovely time and I thought I would share a few pictures from our trip. I am working on a video memoir of our first year so I will be sure to share that with you once I am done.

I hope this inspires even one to believe that you can walk this journey called life with someone to love and someone to love you... the old type of love... golden.

Let's Blossom!!! I love you!!!
